  • Learner transport project: Moerane Transport from Bapong transports learners from Oustad to Nkukime Primary School in Skoolplaas on a daily basis.

  • Technology Research Activity Centre (TRAC) is a mobile laboratory sponsored by IFM that provides educational support to surrounding high schools.
  • TRAC learners attended a summer camp that took place in Hammanskraal.
  • Learner Incentive programme provided to six learners in Grade 10.
  • IFM provides bursaries to deserving learners from surrounding communities or the North West Province who are currently studying Mechanical Engineering and Mining Engineering.
  • Security training is provided in partnership with local security company, Omega Security.

Vegetable farming projects

  • 32 community members of Bapong are currently employed at the Sky Chrome farming project.

Donations During FY2014, the following donations were made by IFM:

  • Blankets to orphans less fortunate learners and care givers.
  • School shoes, uniforms and stationary were given to orphans and less fortunate learners at all the surrounding primary schools.
  • 11 chalk boards were donated to Machadam Combined school.
  • IFM continued to donate food vouchers to needy learners and orphans participating in IFM’s learner incentive programme.
  • Groceries were provided to Mogale High School Matric “Silala Project” in Bapong.
  • Herb and vegetable seedlings were given to Zifo Zonke Care Givers for their backyard garden.
  • JoJo Tanks and stands for water were donated to Majakaneng community.
  • T-shirts bought for Ipopeng Care Givers in Modderspruit.
  • In celebration of Mandela Day, IFM donated electric wheel chairs to two learners at the Meerhof School for Learners with Disabilities.
  • On Casual Day, the Company supported Rekgonne Bapo Special School and Meerhof School for Learners with Disabilities.

  • 600 loaves of bread donated to the feeding scheme of orphans and elderly people at Tshwaraganang and the Unicef and Good Hope Centre as part of IFM’s feeding scheme.
  • IFM donated Christmas food parcels to the orphans and needy families.
